Our team arrived on site early Thursday morning to complete the council handover and carry out underground services locating before a single peg went in the ground. It’s the unglamorous part of the job that most people never see, but getting it right is what allows everything else to run smoothly!
This year we built a 6m x 53m marquee, a step up in size from last year, driven by strong ticket sales and growing demand for one of Geelong’s most loved community events. It’s always a good sign when you need more room.
Those who were at last year’s event will remember the weather had other ideas, a wet lead up meant we needed to bring in additional Supa Trac flooring to keep the ground stable and guests comfortable underfoot. This year, thankfully, the sun had a completely different plan. The grass was green, healthy and looking its best, so we were able to let the lawn do what it does and focus our energy on the setup itself.
Inside the marquee, we dressed the space with our classic white Americana chairs and 1.8m trestle tables, laid out to create a 53m long lunch service. There’s something genuinely impressive about seeing it all come together, a straight line of tables stretching the full length of the structure, ready to host hundreds of guests for an afternoon to remember.
